About Us

In 1974, Charles Samelson founded Charles Samelson, Inc. and began the  successful journey of creating and perfecting highly styled Fire Retardant fabrics for the contract and residential marketplace. Consistent growth throughout the ‘70’s and ‘80’s  led to the founding of the Chatelane division and the need for our expansion to a new warehouse in 1985.

In 1990, having outgrown our Greenville, S.C. warehouse, a new state-of-the-art warehouse and print facility was built in Spartanburg, S.C.  In 2001, further growth and the acquisition of the Coral of Chicago group necessitated the doubling in size of our warehouse/print facility.

Today, Samelson-Chatelane maintains the largest line of fire retardant fabrics in the industry for use at the window, on the bed, furniture and for room accessories. We also carry an extensive line of prints, base cloths and exclusive woven upholstery products to be used in all interior and exterior environments for the Hospitality, Cruise Line and Restaurant industries. 

Our reputation for service and "know how" as a supplier to these communities is unbeatable. In addition, our verticality through the operation of our own print facility makes us a prime resource choice for your company.
